  • How can my dog join the "doghaus?"
To enroll your dog in the doghaus, start by scheduling an interview by calling us at [phone number]. Ensure your dog has current Rabies, Distemper, and Bordatella vaccinations, and complete an application either at the front desk or online. During the interview, your dog will initially meet another even-tempered dog one-on-one, followed by the introduction of a second even-tempered dog, forming a trio. Once acclimated, your dog will engage in a small group play session, with careful separation based on size and temperament. Following the interview, a 10-day probation period ensues to observe your dog's behavioral adjustment. Once the probation period concludes, your dog is welcome to board. If you have boarding dates planned, it's advisable to schedule an interview 2-3 weeks in advance to allow for proper planning. Additionally, inquire about solo boarding options if necessary, provided adequate accommodations are available.
  • What can I bring for my dog?
For daycare, simply bring your dog! Ensure safe entry and exit by bringing a leash and collar, though we do provide an in-haus collar during their stay. If your dog cannot wear a collar, please provide a harness. We do not provide meals for daycare dogs but offer lunch at an extra cost. Please note, this will interrupt their group play time for up to an hour and a half to prevent bloat prior to eating. For boarding, please supply your dog's food along with any treats, medications, toys (non-squeaky and non-stuffing filled preferred), blankets, or beds. Inform us if your dog cannot sleep with a collar or harness or if they are prone to chewing. A waiver is required for provided bedding in case of damage beyond repair overnight.
  • Are there breed restrictions?
While there are no specific breed restrictions, certain breeds will receive additional monitoring due to their genetic predispositions and may be subject to extended probation periods. These breeds include German Shepherds, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Belgian Malinois, Cane Corsos, Akitas, Dogo Argentinos, Boxers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Bull Terriers, Pitbull Terriers, and mixes thereof, are renowned for their strength and specialized tasks, warranting closer observation. Additionally, flat-faced breeds such as French Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, American Bulldogs, Pekingeses, Brussels Griffons, and other brachycephalic dogs will be closely monitored due to their susceptibility to heat and respiratory issues. Similarly, herding breeds like Border Collies, Heelers, Australian Shepherds, and others known for their instinct to herd will receive extra attention, as they may exhibit sensitivity in group play settings. While these breeds are prioritized for monitoring, all dogs, regardless of breed, age, or size, undergo careful observation to ensure their safety and well-being. Recognizing the importance of breed genetics, we acknowledge that not all dogs are suited for open play, and we offer alternative resources for dogs who may not thrive in a daycare environment. Furthermore, we welcome dogs with medical conditions upon veterinary clearance, administering medications in pill or liquid form, though we do not administer injections. Dogs with medical needs receive specialized attention and may be withdrawn from group activities as needed for additional rest and care.
